No board can beat the 2wd Carbon Hurricane I was riding, no other model and certainly not those training unicycles (One Wheels). Until now. AMAZING! The 4wd Zeus Max is off the chart. The deck is so comfortable and steady it does really like a snowboard at times. Well designed. I was worried about the concave not being as deep as I prefer. Wrong! It’s perfect for leaning into a carve. The motors on the front take some getting used to. The Tork they bring is strong and with 2wd you just lean forward, front motors don’t give you a chance! Wonderful but start slow or you’ll get thrown (like me). The remote has dropped but not for any more than a fraction. Not sure if I’m just feeling it more because of the front motors or if it’s slightly more than my Hurricane. Either way, it hasn’t affect ANY performance or fuction, just an observation. I only felt in my remote on the Hurricane so it probably is those 2 fabulous gearboxes on the front. Shredlights on front and rear + handle all fit perfectly and I’m installing gearbox protectors from Linnpower tomorrow. I was going to swap our my tubeless racing wheels but the ride is so steady with the stock ones I currently don’t see the need. Basically if you are even remotely considering getting the Zeus Max 4wd, don’t hesitate do it. You won’t regret it.
Aloha! I really like the board.
A few things I would have like to change though. First off ,when I received the box the board was shipped with a huge stacks of paper instead of foam and it seemed unprofessional to ship, game the impression it was (cheapy). I wanted to post the unboxing but all those stacks of black paper made a horrible video. Second, the stock bushings on 2 wheels went bad immediately after the first ride, had to replace them. The bushings are extremely loud as well, I replaced those as well. I come from years downhill/speed boarding and for the price of the board the little things make all the difference. I suggest name brand bearings/bushing out the box.
2 Years with this board so far. The pneumatic 6-7" tires are the way to go, the ride is buttery smooth compared to the cloud or other poly wheels. They do run the risk of getting a leak if your ride is bumpy or filled with rocks (I generally ride on the street for daily commute). I've averaged 1-2 tires leaking a year, ride 1-3 times a week, up to 14 miles each time to work. I ride with pneumatics and always have the airless honeycomb tires as a backup with me for peace of mind. The customer service has been responsive, just keep it mind they may be in a different time zone.
After customer feedback, they also changed the handle to make it possible to pull the board behind you without the motor grill guard scratching the ground.
I'm not a good writing review. but all I can say is i really appreciate the new esc team ownboard and I really like when it got here faster.
Customer service was exceptional. But where is my stuff?
Plug and play upgrade for an old Evolve Carbon GT.
Remove the old battery, BMS and ESC. Make a 3D printed adaptor plate. Plug motors and hall effect sensors into the Ownboard ESC. Bind the remote. Done.
Lots more torque and control. No issues with the remote dropping out of connection.
Just annoying that I cant store the direction, you have to change it each time you power up. (The remote powers up in reverse for this upgrade).
Also the hunting around whatever speed range you are in is really annoying. The top speed 'hold/limit' really surges a lot.
Lastly the top speed is 15.2mph in 4. 12mph in 3. 10mph in 2 and 8mph in 1. I guess there is an issue with the hall or motors matching the new ESC.
Still worth the upgrade.
I have been in contact with Sally since oct22. UPS never picked up the package on OCT 17th according to the tracking info, and OWNBOARD has not come through with shipping another board or giving a refund. Here we are, almost a month later with no resolution. Buy from someone else, stay away from Ownboard.
Never buying from ownboard again
I have an own board m1 mini this was my first eclectic skateboard and to say i impressed is an understatement. after putting over 790 miles on one battery it was was done more than reasonable. I use this board for daily errands . the power is amazing i get about 9 miles from a full charge very reasonable considering i weigh 230 LBS. i sure have put this board through some rough situations that should have killed the board but didn't. I would love to see regenerative braking on some of ownboards more budget friendly boards
