Ownboard Dual Belt Motor Kit

pictured is not the last version, i tried stuff and just put the battery closer to the front truck, better stability. This is the "test" setup, and, i have tested, i'm convinced.

I had troubles finding what product would be the best for me on the internet : was looking for belt drive for using orangatang wheels, sufficient range, and safety
i'm do downhill longboarding at a european competitive level so i just would not buy a flexy, flat, big board. I user an old Jet board, 9.5", 84/90a front and -5° 88/97 back
took only one slam because of a wet patch i did not see (helmet is MANDATORY whatever your skill)

did 280km, 70km/h downhill seems to be close to the limit of the trucks even on a big board, and my average speed on this is around 30, so 2minutes per kilometer. Super handy for commuting, super fun, you can have downhill like full grip runs almost anywhere, easy 45 km/h on the flat...

only thing i'm a little worried about are the belt, because i may be way more brutal with my board than most reviewer on the web and it tends to touch rocks and big cracks. I'll get bigger wheels as soon as one fails, will fix the issue.

And good work putting an insert for the back truck, few knows but... yeah i don't have any downhill setup without inserts or sphericals. Just better.

Would advise, but take it easy it goes fast enough to get hurt !

May do a review some day but the weather in France is not that good this season.

After searching the internet for a bolt on solution for an existing deck I came across Ownboard.net
Ordering the belt drive W2 kit was easy, Sally from Ownboard very helpful and it was shipped quickly.
Th plug & play solution arrived and was attached to the deck with some basic tools.

Impressions over two years and 1300km/800 miles later:
The system is remarkably robust. I have accidentally hit cracks and bumps in the pavement, a municipal hose under pressure without failure of any component. Not once has the system experienced an electrical malfunction - ALWAYS - responds as expected and as designed. Cannot overstate how important this is when moving at speed -for your own safety.

It is my favorite activity on wheels or water. (we have an 8km promenade in our town) After two years this product still brings me remarkable joy. Put some music in your ears and just go.

Performance - my experience: (Rider weight - 82kg/180lbs, 90mm black wheels)
Top Speed: (GPS) 44km/h - 27mph
Range: 18 - 25km depending on wind/hills/speed

Some last points:
The re-gen breaking works well, you can actually slowly re-charge the battery just by kicking along for a bit.
I'd suggest becoming acquainted with the controls while staying in speed mode 1 in the beginning.
A very long board seems advantageous at high speed if you hit a small obstacle, I have yet to come off the board.
The acceleration seems to be the same across all speed modes, only the top speed for that mode varies.

This kit is a great starter if you want to switch from hub motor to belt drive. Is is a bit expensive but overall pretty worth it
